A Homespun Affair October Featured Artist

When I was asked to be the feartured artist for the monthly publication 'A Homespun Affair', I jumped at the chance to create a Halloween project! It's my favorite time of the year and Halloween is so much fun with the grandkids!

A Homespun Affair is a blogger and crafting monthly publication.  The editor is Jessica Kephart and she has a fabulous group of talented designers on her team to bring you inspiration for your home, celebration, decor needs, gifting, and thrifting finds. There is so much more from challenges to giveaways!

On to my project!

I loved this little box of cones from the Cricut Digital Exclusives and thought of this Halloween display.

The cones and box were made using the Cricut  Digital 3D Party Cones Exclusive.

Using the Gypsy I cut two Cone #1, cut is 10.27-5.75 from black cardstock.

The rick -rack is Cone #1/shift and the cut is 8.75-5.75 from green and orange glitter paper.

I cut one Cone #6 , cut is 5.91-5.75 from black card stock and layer Cone #6/shift, cut is 5.61-5.75 from patterned and glittered paper.

I then sprayed the cones with Goosebumps Shimmer Texture Sray from Tunineko.

The cone holder is Box #7 cut is 6.96-5.16 from patterned paper (Heidi Swapp Phantom Kit).

Tip:  I placed the completed box over floral foam, cut to fit to make it more stable to hold the cones.
Carve out holes in the foam using the holes in the top of the box as a template and set your cones in.

The gate is from the Cricut cartridge Happy Hauntings. Page 62 <Graveyrd> cut is 9.32-4.75 from black cardstock.
The spiders and spider webs are from the Close To My Heart Cricut cartridge 'Artiste'.
Spiders are pg. 77 <Halloween> Accent 4 Shift cut is 1.55-1.74 from black cardstock.

The spider web was designed in the Cricut Craft Room by welding three webs together. See screen shot of CCR design.  Pg 76 <Eek> Accent 4, cut is 10.520-9.568 from black cardstock.

To add the spider webs to the box, I glued floral wire along the lines in the web and pierced holes through the cardstock into the floral foam. (Another reason to use the floral foam)

The 'Happy Halloween' phrase attached to the top of the spider webs is from Tags, Bags, Boxes & More2  Pg 51 #28 <PmpknBg> Phrase cut is 8.01-2.724 from orange glitter cardstock.
Phrase Shadow cut is 8.22-2.928 from black cardstock.

The label is one 31/2" rosette made from the orange glitter cardstock and 1 3" roseete made with a Martha Stewart Spider Web border punch.  The Black Bat Label is from the Midnight Magic paper pad from Recollections.
Other stickers are Pink Pislee, Phantom 'House of Fire' element stickers.

Thanks to Jessica and your awesome design team for inspiring me to create this project and sharing in the fabulous publication, 'A Homespun Affair'! I'm so grateful and I hope everyone enjoyed!

Happy Halloween to everyone and
Happy Crafting!
