Boy it's great to be back! I've been MIA on my blog since Christmas while helping a friend recoop from a knee replacement surgery. Totally rewarding when you can help someone become mobile again and pain free. Besides, my motives where self serving...she's my craft shopping buddy and we can't let a knee stop us! The surgery was successful and all is well now.
In the mean time I acquired three new Cricut machines, the E2, the Imagine and the Mini. I'm determined to master all these machines and The Cricut Craft Room and put them to their maximum use!
Happy to say, so far so good and if you'd like to follow along with me I'll share the UPs and DOWNS in my Cricut trials.
Yesterday I made a quick card for my grandson's birthday. (The party was last night.)
I'm still totally out of my comfort zone making cards and trying to make one for a 14 year old boy was a real challenge for me!
This is what I came up with.
I asked myself what all 14 year old boys want...and in Jordons case with two younger brothers, I was sure he could use PRIVACY!
I perused my Gypsy and found this Do Not Enter on the Cricut cartridge Dude and decided to make a
door knob hanger for his room.
I found a 4"x 9" card and envelope "Skinny Cards" by Canvas Corp that I had purchased at Hobby Lobby for my base.
I used a punch to cut a circle at the top and slit to allow the card to be placed on the door knob.
Then cut and added the neccesary layers of the Do Not Enter #10 on the Dude cart, Shift/Lock>layer
cut at 3''
I added Making Memories moulding strips 'link/thin' at he top (there is a slit in that as well) and the middle and bottom.
This is the inside.
for the 14 I used thickers 'Maple' matte puffy letter stickers.
I stamped 'year old' using CTMH alphabet stamp set.
And 'Happy Birthday' is Studio g clear stamps.
I just instructed my grandson to cut the front off and it would be ready to hang on his door!
Wish I thought of before to put -----cut here---- on the fold but if I make another, that is what I will do!
Thanks for dropping by
and
Happy Crafting!

ReplyDeleteThanks Kat! I have tons of the Thickers and forget to use them. Amazing we have grandchildren the same age, same birthday months and same name!
